Philip Mortimer B.Sc (Hons) Ost

Philip Mortimer

Osteopath and Acupuncturist (Founder)

Philip started The Osteopathic Consultancy in 2005, originally setting up the clinic within the Drayton and St Faiths Medical Centre on the outskirts of Norwich. In addition to this weekly clinic in Norfolk, he continued to work in London, primarily at Cannons in the City, whilst also maintaining an independent private client base, which included a number of high profile and celebrity clients. During this time Phil has worked, and continues to work with GPs and consultants, as well as working with sports coaches and athletes in their pursuit of a better performance.

In October 2007 Philip opened his own independent clinic at a new location in Norwich city centre, with two treatment rooms, an additional osteopath and two sports therapists. With city centre premises, The Osteopathic Consultancy is able to provide a superior service to those working in the heart of the city, from desk-based office workers to those who spend their days on their feet, whether in the retail, catering or hairdressing industries. We are currently developing a bespoke service aimed at the corporate business community to benefit both the employer and the employee, thus improving the working environment and reducing the cost of absence due to sickness.

"We have now moved from the outskirts to the city centre in order to create better facilities for our patients with specific equipment and the convenience of the ideal location in the city"

Since starting The Osteopathic Consultancy, Philip has maintained and strengthened his connections with the London School of Osteopathy, one of the top British Osteopathic colleges, where he attained his degree. He now assists in teaching and examining undergraduate osteopaths, with a special interest in evaluation and technique. This passion to advance with patient care and individual needs has naturally lead Philip to work with a varied and wide-ranging clientele, and he is able to treat a plethora of conditions from elderly arthritic pain to the specialised bio-mechanical changes in sports such as golf.

"As an osteopath you must look constantly at ideas and treatments plans that will help conditions get better. At The Osteopathic Consultancy, I think that is one of our real strengths".

Ross McAllister ITEC SMT

Ross McAllister

Sports Massage Therapist

At the Osteopathic Consultancy our and my aim is to provide a high level of care. Coming from a background in rugby, playing at county and divisional level in my youth, I know how important it is to have the body working in top condition.

After research into the different types of therapy I decided on osteopathy for which I currently study at the British School of Osteopathy. This allows my skills to advance with the management, the manipulation and rehabilitation of the body's soft tissues. Combining sports massage with osteopathic knowledge creates a more complete treatment for the muscles of the body.

Most massage treats localized areas providing short-term gains and in many cases providing short-term relief. My way of working treats the localized problem and searches out for any other areas of tension in the muscular chains that run through the body. The aim of providing a longer lasting solution is the key in this philosophy.

For a sports therapy treatment, please call the clinic number.
